What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Senior Data Science Solution Architect with “real-world”, practical experience of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, ModelOps and Natural Language Processing, and building applications for Artificial Intelligence using open source. Experience in the insurance industry is considered a plus.

You will help create a vision of the art of the possible within the customer intelligence world – driven by analytics, stretching the boundaries and leading the market with your innovation. Crucially though you also need to practically help deliver on this vision.

As Senior Data Science Solution Architect in the DACH Insurance customer advisory team you will drive new opportunities and advisory projects for leading insurance companies and be an integral part of our customers’ success. Being a key contributor, you will act as part of sales, presales and professional service teams, management, and customers to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Your focus is on the analytics strategy of our clients. You will support leading insurance companies in the identification and design of use cases, outline cutting-edge, target-oriented implementation options, design concepts for AI factories and innovation labs and help them succeed with a holistic ModelOps approach.

The role involves using the entire portfolio of SAS Technology in the Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence space (such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Languages Processing, Forecasting, Model Management and ModelOps, Streaming) as well as Open Source, to address the customers’ business needs with the most appropriate and innovative technologies and make sure they efficiently fit into existing and new business processes. Delivering concepts to scale and operationalize analytics are an integral part of your mission.

Working as part of the DACH Insurance team will present you with the opportunity to drive change, deliver strategic value and engage in truly meaningful work. You will be working with the forefront of technology to solve some of our insurance customers’ greatest challenges and dramatically change the way insurance is delivered.

You will:

• Help insurers to transform from “understand and protect” to “predict and prevent”. Find ways to automate complex decision problems and provide efficient processes, elastic infrastructures, and adequate tooling to make real use of AI technologies.
• Enable actuarial departments to bring their pricing processes to the next level. Help them to use AI for better tariffs and optimized portfolios. Let them do pricing in real-time.
• Next-best offer? Next-best action? Maybe next-best question! Help insurance companies to create the customer experience of the future.
• Digital channels require improved anti-fraud measures. Help insurance companies to effectively combat claims or application fraud.
• The advent of IoT is a great source for new data, a true enabler of new products, as well as a gateway for new risks. Help insurers to leverage the new possibilities of IoT.

What we’re looking for

• Ideally you have 5+ years of practical experiences, know the business implications of analytics and the challenges in adopting analytics in an enterprise context and in business processes, had a leadership role in analytics / data science, and you know the processes of the insurance industry
• Knowledge of open source technologies and technologies for Deep Learning and Artificial intelligence, such as Python, R, Caffe, Keras
• Understanding of deployment concepts such as API, REST, Microservices, containers
• Knowledge of SAS tools in the Advanced Analytics Space, such as Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning, Visual Text Analytics, Model Manager, Enterprise Miner, Contextual Analysis
• Excellent understanding of the Artificial Intelligence market
• Proven record of projects in the AI and ML space
• Proven ability to define and execute a strategy across a virtual team
• Ability to coach customers on innovative topics in the space of AI working in a global environment across countries
• Significant experience in presales/customer advisory, sales or business consulting
• Fluent in written and spoken German and English
• Strong communication and team working skills
• External qualifications considered a plus: proven speaking engagements at conferences, community blogging and interactions
• Ability to work comfortably with directors and C-level executives at customers and partners
• Business acumen and sales-driven approach
